Behind the Artist
I have always been someone who sees a space for what it could be. I can walk into an empty room and immediately begin rearranging it in my head, noticing the light, the architecture, what I would preserve, and all the little details that could make it feel entirely different.
When I became a photographer, that instinct naturally became part of my work. I began designing my own sets, particularly for Christmas, and quickly realized that dreaming up the concept, finding the furniture, painting, building, sewing, and styling was one of my favorite parts of the creative process.
Eventually, I began wondering what I could create if the space itself were mine.
My inspiration has always leaned toward Europe: old architecture, collected interiors, worn woods, ornate details, beautiful textiles, and rooms that feel as though they have existed for generations. After eloping in Ireland, I became even more fascinated by the way a place can have a feeling, something you experience before you can quite explain why.
Photography is only one way I create. I paint, draw, sculpt, knit, sew, build, refinish furniture, and take on more DIY projects than I probably should. The Gallery Rooms became a place for all of those pieces of my creativity to come together.
The Gallery Rooms
Located in historic downtown Mooresville, North Carolina, The Gallery Rooms is composed of four individually designed spaces: The Atelier, The Salon, The Parlor, and The Conservatory.
Inspired by old-world European interiors, each room is layered with architectural character, antique and vintage-inspired furnishings, collected décor, rich textures, and details designed to make the space feel as though it has evolved over time.
The Gallery Rooms is intentionally different from a traditional photography studio. Rather than blank walls and completely modular sets that need to be built or rearranged for every session, these are finished, thoughtfully designed interiors where the setting itself becomes part of the photograph, film, campaign, or story being created within it. You can simply walk in and begin creating.
The rooms will evolve throughout the year, with furnishings, styling, and seasonal installations changing while the character and old-world feeling of each space remain recognizable.
Most importantly, The Gallery Rooms was designed by a photographer, for photographers and creatives. Everything from the direction of the light and shooting distance to furniture placement, textures, backgrounds, and sightlines is considered with the final image in mind. Each room is designed to offer multiple compositions without requiring you to completely rebuild the space.
After years of searching for beautiful places to create, I finally decided to build one.
The Gallery Rooms is that place.
